Press Report 6th March 2020

In The Homan League this week current Club Champion Steve Levy (184) outplayed Cliff Peach (107) to make that 13 out of 13! A fantastic run. With only one game left to play he is guaranteed to finish at the top of the Homan League. This will give him a place in the 4-player play-offs.

With the storms and floods still rampaging accross Devon it was a two board affair in the DCCA Mamhead on Sat 29th Feb. Steve Levy on board 1 got the better of Micheal Stinton-Brownbridge and on board 2 Cliff Peach and Martin Quinn had a well fought draw. The overall score on the day was 1.5 to 0.5 in South Hams favour.

In the M-Wray Shield there was the welcome return of Phil McConnell (123) after an extended overseas break, but his opponent James Fowler (95) was in no holiday mood and proceeded to knock the 'jet lag' out of him and get the point.

All eyes though were glued to The Dunleavey League this week as the tension notched up another level. James Schofield (156) returned after a few weeks away and went head to head with Ken Ashby (96). With ice-cool precision he showed why he's currently unbeaten in the League and won without breaking a sweat. Tony Collins (61) tried some tricks against Roy Greenhalgh (103) but Roy prevailed in the end. The top of the table clash though was between David Archer (170) and Dennis Cowley (175). After an early foray David had the edge but fierce play and good experience from Dennis enabled him to turn the tables and win the game. These results now leave half a point separating the top 3 places with David Archer on 8.5 and Dennis Cowley and James Schofield on 8 points each.
