South Hams Chess Club

Press Report 30th October 2020

A quieter week online for the South Hams Chess Club as it saw no major upsets for the first time in several weeks, only the emergence of Trevor Hurt having a winning run which has seen him rise up the Homan League, Clifford Peach being his third victim on the trot. James Fowler being next in line although he has seen his form going in the opposite direction, although beating Richard Thomas in his last game. Trevor and James confronting each other next could be a very interesting encounter as both are known for their on off performances.

Other results saw Steve Levy beat Ken Ashby, James Schofield beat Alan Davies, with Alan playing some good chess, but results just have not been going for him so far this season.

With a much awaited match against Newton Abbot being cancelled due to problems connecting to the chess.com website, with Newton seeking revenge for a defeat earlier in the season, they will now just have to wait a little longer for a date to be decided.
