Great stuff, really going back to the good old days Blackadder, I do actually remember arranging that one Steve believe it or not.
No jammy dodgers, ducking & divers back then, or the modern day whimps, talking of the old days do you have The Boomsma game, just to show the modernist what chess was about, pieces jumping, clocks bouncing with fear in a players eyes, Oh, to have them back.
Steve and the thought of going to Palace chess club for a league match, Boomsma, Swift, Sapiecha Forgot who you played on top board, no boys in those days. Saying that TBGS and Torbay Juniors were not bat in those days 140/150 bottom board.

Somehow I reckon you put this game up to cheer Cliff up. Yes, even the maestro blunders. 1987... was this the last time you did? 1987 eh... and there I was thinking you were shooting An Officer and a Gentleman.

Good game. Interesting that the CIC was playing this hypermodern stuff, even back in the Stone Age.

As to the comment about the name on the trophy, now he's just taking he p**s. McConnell Luck might be good, but it isn't THAT good.

Thought this might be of interest as it was played against the legend Phil Homan. He was getting on a bit at the time, even older than Cliff.I was down visiting my dad so Cliff arranged to play against Phil ( A TRUE GENTLEMAN ). The F M will be interested as he will have his name on the trophy at the end of the season
