The August Bank Holiday is nearly upon us... so the new chess season must be about to start! The first club night of the new season will be on Thursday 3rd September.
The internal club competitions have been set up and are ready to go - for details see the competition overview for 2015-16.
Cliff and Phil will be attending the Torbay League Autumn Council meeting on 23rd September, which is when we expect the club's fixtures in the Torbay League competitions to be determined.
Bearing in mind Torbay League fixtures, the Cookworthy Cup, holidays and other reasons why you may not be able to play every Thursday, it's inevitably going to be a challenge to complete all your games in the Homan League or Dunleavy League before Christmas. So it's important that you arrange a game in the Homan League or Dunleavy League on every possible club night. Please use phone or email to get your games scheduled - don't leave it to "pot luck" on the night. Please record on this website the games you have scheduled by visiting the web page for this season's Homan or Dunleavy League; you can see on these pages what games that other players in your league have already scheduled. Don't worry about committing yourself a long time in advance - it is understood that from time to time, games will need to re-scheduled for one reason or another.
As a reminder, members' new grades, as per the July 2015 ECF grading list, can be viewed on this website.
Finally, please don't forget to renew your ECF membership if it expires on August 31st 2015. The easiest and cheapest way to renew is online via the ECF website.
At the AGM on 30th April, it was clear from members' comments that 2014-15 was a very successful and enjoyable season for the club. Here's to an even better season in 2015-16!
