David Archer wins the DCCA Minor Individual Trophy

Many congratulations to David Archer, who last night beat Mark Cockerton to become the Devon County Chess Association Individual Champion for 2015-16 in the Minor Section.

In this year's Minor Section, David Archer (South Hams) won Group A with 3/4, while Mark Cockerton (Torquay and Teignmouth) won Group B with 2½/3. The play-off between David and Mark took place last night at the South Hams club, and David eventually won a tight game when his knight checkmated his opponet's king which had no square to move to.

So, another win in a great season for David. If he wins or draws next week's game against Ben Wilkinson, he will finish second in the Homan Leage and play a "double header" play-off against Steve Levy for the South Hams Club champuonship.
