Press Report 21st February 2020

On the 11th Feb the Div 3 team travelled to Teighnmouth for a hotly contested league match. Board 1 saw James Schofield pitted against William Ingham and after a good battle he came away with the point. On board 2 Alan Davies faired not as well against Ian Henry, losing his match. With Charles Doidge from Teighnmouth getting the better of James fowler on board 3, it was left to Roy Greenhalgh to beat Kenneth Hayden-Sadler on board 4 to bring the overall score to 2-2 on the night. A fair result.

With Storm Dennis raging in and many travel disruptions accross the area there were only four internal matches on Thur 13th.

In the M-Wray Shield club champion Steve Levy dispatched a spirited Steve Dickinson after (in his own words) a very fortunate sequence of moves that, if planned, would have been world class.

In the Cookworthy Cup Trevor Hurt showed that he is much improving at the club when he Out Foxed the 'Old Fox' Roy Greenhalgh to claim the second place in the Semi Final. a great game of tactics.

In the Dunleavey League, with the top two positions failing to play this week, David Archer took advantage when he outplayed Tony Collins to jump from 3rd to 1st. The Game of the week though has to go to Ken Ashby, who having got himself into a completely losing position, had a massive stroke of luck when Alan Davies had a rush of blood to the head as he closed in for the kill and completely blundered, losing the game in two moves. The look on both there faces was priceless!
