Another frantic week of chess activity at the online South Hams Chess Club saw Steve Levy extend his winning run to fifteen games. A remarkable run and probably a club record since it was founded in 1982. The big question now is can he go on and win the club championship winning all his games during 2021? He has some tough games remaining.
Over the last week it has seen him beat Phil McConnell and Quentin Thwaites, both these players being in the top half of the Homan League. The week has also seen the return to form of Alan Davies who drew against Tony Tatam and won against James Fowler. James is going in the opposite direction losing also to Ken Ashby and Phil McConnell. Ken also got two great results when he drew against Tony Tatam and Arthur Doble.
Chris Willcox is maintaining his challenge at the top with two wins against Trevor Hurt and Arthur Doble while Trevor Hurt and Clifford Peach played out a hard fought draw.
While away from the South Hams Club, Tony Tatam and Clifford Peach, played in a 4NCL league match for Plymouth against MCS Oxford. In an exciting match Plymouth came out winners 2 ½ - 1 ½ with Tony winning his game while Clifford drew. This win puts Plymouth 2nd in a large league just behind Hereford with 2 ½ from 3 games.
