The start of a new Chess Season sees the return of the South Hams Chess Club, but unfortunately it still has to adhere to all Covid rules, although in a slightly more relaxed form.

Last season all games were played online; this time around there will be a mixture of over the board games and online games. This is really due to some members not yet ready to play over the board and although strict Covid rules will be in place, all players must be double vaccinated and wear a mask etc. The club meets at the Regal Club, Kingsbridge where a large playing area means social distancing shouldn’t be a problem. Anyone not feeling happy at playing over the board can automatically take part in the club’s internal league by playing online, all results count in just the one league.

This set up is experimental and will be reviewed again at Christmas. Club night still remains on a Thursday at 7pm and anyone wishing to join or play club games should check the clubs website at southhamschessclub.com or contact Phil McConnell on 01803 834135.
